| MISSIONS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH |
|
"Everyone can be great because everyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree... You only need a heart full of grace...a soul generated by love." Martin Luther King, Jr.
United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this work in simple, practical terms: "Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can."

| An ongoing mission is the Main Street Church Food Pantry to serve families in need. The Pantry operates from Monday through Thursday, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.. In 2009 99,878 pounds of food were distributed to 6,244 individuals. .Financial or food donations are welcomed.. |
 |
Presently, there are seven members of Main Street who are trained ICM Chaplains, serving in various local work places including McKee Foods, F.R. Drake Manufacturing, the Waynesboro YMCA, Valley Program for Aging, Waynesboro Manor, the Waynesboro Fire Department and the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. Some of the Chaplains also serve on the local ICM Chapter's Board of Directors, as does Senior Pastor Neil Hough. The ICM Chaplains are trained to provide "…a caring presence, a listening ear and effective referrals" for those whom they serve. Each week, some 2000 men and women are visited by the local ICM Chapter Chaplains in the workplace. For many, this will be the only contact they have with a caring presence: "I don't have a Pastor but I do have a Chaplain." If you wish to explore the Chaplaincy or gain additional information, please contact Harold Baldwin or Richard Ammons. The ICM website is http://www.icmamerica.org/ |
